ON EAGLES WINGS

As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the Lord alone led him, and there was no foreign god with him. Deuteronomy 32:11-12

This account from Moses in Deuteronomy so beautifully describes the experience of silent prayer. We are with the Lord the whole time.

ENTER
As we enter we are taken up. We move from our focus on this world. This world gets more and more distant.

SECRET PLACE
We are simply present with the Lord. There is no foreign god. There is no idol. Just our God and us.

LEAVE
We gently return to the focus of this world.

The  section ‘Taken Up’ comments on the same scripture, but from a different perspective. This perspective is that we are taken up by the Lord. Even when we are incapacitated by infirmity we are not excluded from the secret place, because it is the Lord who carries us.
