MEDITATION

Christian meditation is very clear and straightforward. It emanates from Scripture.

In Christian meditation you meditate on things, you think about things.

Examples of things mentioned in the Old testament are, His Law , on You [the Lord] , Your work , the Excellencies of the Lord , Your precepts , Your statutes , Your law , Your word , His name. (all found in the Psalms).

In the New Testament we are encouraged to meditate on things which are true, noble, just, lovely, of good report, virtuous or praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)

Christian meditation edifies and associates you with God in intimate personal relationship.

There is an aspect to meditation where we really focus on and try to enter into the fullness of the depth of the aspect we are considering.

We have a bible study group which may take in whole chapters, or skim from passage to passage. Yet at other times we focus on just one verse or concept.

It is like at times flying high over a landscape taking in broad perspectives. We share and chat together. At other times the helicopter lands. We get out. No distractions. We reach out and touch, like running our hands through wheat as we walk through the wheat field rather than observing it from above. We are just with the Lord. That is how meditation can be.

We will be looking at some of the topics that we may find we embrace in the secret place in meditation. These take the form of the picture tiles we use.

The Lord is feeding us as we Worship Him in return.

The topics, each depicted as a picture tile are:-
  • Rest
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Loved
  • Intimacy
  • Dreams & Visions
  • Light
  • Fire
  • Living Water
