ALPHA & OMEGA

Throughout this whole account of Silent Prayer runs an exposition of the teaching of Jesus. He is the beginning and the end, the alpha and the omega of this prayer time.

There is no syncretism (mixing) with other faiths such as Zen Buddhism or Hinduism.

Techniques of yoga, transcendental meditation, yoga, centring Prayer or mindfulness do not feature.

Nowhere do you begin with self and self-effort.

All is done in relationship with Jesus.

Christian Silent Prayer is being with the Lord in the garden in the cool of the day Genesis 3:8

You answer the call of the Lord, Jesus invites you, and you are with the Lord in intimate personal relationship the whole time.

Here you are simply loved beyond measure, and you respond in Worship.

It is a mutual giving one to the other.

All other forms of silence are simply being alone in the garden in the cool of the day.

You can attain calmness and tranquillity by self-effort.

Some practices do have visits from others, but whatever way they are named, they are not God, the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

There are other ways to come to a place of calm.

Most use techniques of self-effort instead of answering the Lords call with ‘Here I am’ and coming to Jesus right at the start.

Please pray that more and more people discover Jesus in practice the Silent Prayer of Scripture from the very beginning to the very end.
