SILENT PRAYER AT A  MEETING

Introduction to Silent Prayer

This is a brief introduction to the ‘Silent Prayer of Scripture’ at a meeting.

I emphasise ‘of Scripture’ for this is the Silent Prayer which is focussed on Jesus, and His teaching.

Three scripture quotes describe it far better than anything I could come up with.

FIRST,
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

This is the first thing we do, come to Jesus, hand over all our cares and problems to him. He invites us to do it.
We may sense rising up on eagles wings Deuteronomy 32:11-12, Isaiah 40:31

SECOND,
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit exalts in God my Saviour. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; Luke 1:46-47

With our mind free, our soul magnifies the Lord, fills up, with Him. Our spirit exalts in God, we praise Him in awe and wonder. For he has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant. Simply, we are lowly.

NOW THIRD
… around the throne … every creature which is in heaven and on the earth … saying: “Blessing and honour and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Revelation 5:11-13

The ‘every creature on the earth’ bit is us right now. We gather around the throne as one, to praise God with the angels. What a privilege!

As you gather together in silent stillness to worship and adore God you will find there is power, not from us, but the power of the Holy Spirit. Where we are led, we give to Jesus. This is His time / the time of Joel’s prophecy, quoted by Peter in Acts, the time of visions, dreams and prophesying.

COME TO JESUS.|| EXALT THE LORD. || AROUND THE THRONE.

That’s it. We have no liturgy, we simply move into the silent stillness of our worship, we move into the universal language of worship in silent stillness.
